I am going to use a GM37GFI tank from SPI for my 6.0 LY6 swap . I have had the factory harness converted to stand alone. I think I need to run a Ford style inertia switch for the fuel pump. If I am right GM used the airbag sensors to trip the ECM to shut off the signal to the pump relay. Without the crash sensors, my pump would not shut off if the unthinkable happened. Am I right or way off on this? The switches are cheap, and would definately add a safety factor to my build.

Great point. Last thing anyone needs is a high capacity pump pumping fuel all over the place in an accident if the engine keeps running.

Maybe an additional area, at least that we are looking at is rollover valves. These stop fuel draining out of the tank if the car/truck is inverted after a rollover.

You can also use your oil pressure switch to cut off the pump should the engine stop or lost oil pressure. GM did use thist method on some older car setups.

But start up prime could be a problem to figure out. I am sure some electrical expert can figure out something.

Normally if the engine stops the ECM turns the pump off.

I didn't know the ECM would shut off the pump if the engine stopped. Thanks for the info.

I called Jesse at Wait for me Performance, and he verified the ECM will shut off the fuel pump after 10 seconds without a signal from the engine running. Excellent, no Ford parts in my Olds.
