On the 81 Firebird a LS1 or LHX oil pan is going to be the best option

What tech do you need help with on the swap?

As for the LS1 long block get some 799 heads from a newer 5.3L. They are the same as a 243 LS6 head without the lighter valves.

The LY6 needs an oil pan and a PS and ALT relocation kit and it’s ready to drop in place on a 88 Monte.

I have been getting 23-24mpg.
My car has a 5.3L L33, 4L60e trans with a 2500 stall torque converter. Also I have a 2.78 open rear and the car probably weighs around 3800lbs.
I am very pleased with the gas mileage I am getting. Also the motor and shift points could be tuned better. It shifts a little late just cruising, so that probably waste a little gas.
