Hi.
I just wanted to tell everyone that after i mounted the girdle from BRP
my oilpressure went from 20 to 40 when idling.:)
Thanks BRP for that invention. :)

I think you were having a low idle pressure problem?
Maybe we discussed it on Tri Five or Chevy Talk?
I still have mine and was thinking about using this
item. So it worked for you? I still have 5-7 at hot
idle, and have recently ordered a new oil pick up tube
from S&P thinking it might be welded incorrectly.
Maybe I should ge the girdle too?

The girdle can help keep even pressure and has worked on the aftermarket Autokraft pans and i know it cant hurt since the S & P uses the OEM tubes and mods them

Well, as you know I have a S&P oil pan and pick up.
I have been going round and round tyring to figure
out a low oil pressure problem that I am almost
sure has to do with pick up. So I ordered the girdle.
I also had S&P send me a new modified pick up
tube. It sure looked different than the old one I have.
I'm sure I had a first gen attempt from S&P as the welds
were unfinished, and as I found out the fit wasn't up to
snuff. My first attempt to install the new pick up and
girdle wasn't too sucessful as the 2nd bolt on the oil pump
is just out of reach and could not get a wrench on the head
to tighen it down with any certainty. I finally fabricated a
10mm nut driver and a 1/4" open end ignition wrench. It was
slow but got it tight. Well the oil pressure was worse.
Again I drained the oil, tore out the steering rack and pinion
set up, dropped the oil pan, removed the pick up bolts, only
to find that somehow I pinched and cut the o-ring. Big
reason for low oil pressure. I still had the old ring from the
old pick up. Anyway it all felt different putting it back together
that time, as I think I finally got the right o-ring, with the
right pick tube to fit at the right angle into the oil pump.
You could feel the o-ring catch and slip into its proper
location, something I've never felt before. Anyway
everything sems to work better now. Although the girdle
wasn't an easy install with the oil pump on the engine
it could be done and I'm sure it helps.

so.. did you get your oil pressure up now.. what is the pressure...?

The girdles are a quick install when the engines off the car in the build stage but on the car it can be a tight fit. You still have to be careful when installing the O-ring its important to try to get it to slide down and evenly as the pickup tube is installed.

With regular royal purple 10w40 synthetic start pressure 60,
hot idle 10-15?
I am going back to my old tried and true royal purple
XPR 20w50 racing oil. I'll let you know but I'm assuming
another 5-10psi with this oil.
I have been using it before when the pressure was lower
(bad o-ring) and when I took the pan off to put on the girdle the first time
the bottom of the pan was clean! And I mean clean!
I could have reused the oil but didn't. The color was good
and it didn't smell burnt, and it didn't have any river's of
silver in it like I have seen on normal wear cars. Couldn't
recommend this oil highly enough.
