TURBO BUICK

Hi everyone. I just found out about this new forum that is dedicated to LS Series engine swaps and just had to join this site.So here I am. My interests are strictly in performance cars. At the present time I have a "Few" Turbo Regals as well as a couple of regular 87 Regals with the Olds 307 Cu in engine. My wife has an 07 TB SS that was "Tweaked" by Tune Time Performance and that is how I got addicted to the LS Series of engines. What I will be working on is one of the 87 Buick Regals that has the Olds 307 in it. Either that or an 86 Monte SS that I have. Haven't really made up my mind for sure. I presently have an LS376/480 crate engine and a 4L60E trans out of a 2004 GTO. I also have the stand alone wiring harness that GM recommends for both the engine and the one for the 4L60E trans. I also have the late model Corvette front accessories to go on the LS376/480. My concern at this time is with the mounts, oil pan, and headers. Headers and mounts aren't really the problem because I am leaning towards the BRP kit. My concern is with the oil pan. I know a lot of people are using the LH8 pan. Some are using the FBody and some are using the CTS-V pans. Due to my age I really don't feel like trial fitting the engine and trans about 1/2 dozen times or more and would really like to set this into place with minimal effort and am open for suggestions. In the meantime I will be enjoying this site and trying to gain as much knowledge as I can with the hopes of also contributing to this site.

Welcome!
I ditched an SBO for LS power, its a pretty good way of getting power and losing 200lbs off the nose of the car

Ryan, I have followed your thread as well as others. Nice 71 Cutlass you have there. Must run real nice. I just hope that I can get my project to run equally as nice. Rich

Welcome to the site and here are some tips on oil pans for your G-Body
LH8 You can run the LH8 with the kit and not have to notch or relocate the low mount A/C but you get about ½ to ¾ in of hang under the K-member
CTS-V will work with the BRP kit and hedders but due to the sump design you have to notch the frame or top mount the A/C with a www.KwikPerf.com (http://www.KwikPerf.com) kit.
The autokraft pan is also a great option
What are your plans for the fuel system? gauges?

Shawn, for the fuel system I have a baffled Buick GN tank and fuel pump. I don't really know how feasible it would be to keep the stock GN pump so I was going to replace that with a Walbro pump from Racetronics. For the filter and the regulator I was going to use the later model Corvette combo and mount that somewhere on the frame in the rear where the GN fuel filter mounts. As far as gauges go, I am planning on going with the Autometer gauges because in the 1987 Buick Regals there is basically idiot lights. My wife has an 87 Buick GN that we bought new and when it was brand new I had changed the dash and had put a GNX style dash into it. I am planning on doing this project with that style of gauges. Since you and the other members of this forum has a lot more experience than I in these LS Series swaps, I am always open for suggestions if you have some Shawn. By the way, I am glad you had started this site as I enjoy immensely. Good luck with it. Rich
