If an engine with vvt is purchased is it better to leave it in operation? If not, why not. If not wanted, what do I have to do mechanically/programing wise to delete? As always, any experiences/suggestions are welcome.

The VVT is a great option for anyone wanting cam only motors. These motor make great HP with only a cam swap and offer better MPG as well. If a more radical build is needed it can be beneficial to run a traditional cam for higher lift camshafts.
To take VVT off you need to change the timing chain cover, and timing gear. If the motor was a DOD motor you have to change lifter and a good bit more work. The motor will also need to be tuned which would be needed on any cam swap.
