1970 Post Lemans VVT/6 Speed

This is one of my recent projects cars I bought, I picked her up for $3400 with a the worst LS conversion in the car I have ever seen! I though it’s a great way to look at what not to do! I bought the car from a guy that got taken for a ride from an installer and ended up with 14K in receipts and a car that would never be street worthy in the shape I bought it in. But she did come with a great name tangerary, she was named after a strippers legs for the way her quarter panels look! Even though he told his wife it was for the drink

The engine was a 5.3L/4L60 that was mutilated during the install and was put in using a stick welder and scrap metal. The Truck oil pan was ½ from the ground! With the top of the intake shaved down to clear the hood and look butchered. Even the cast iron manifolds where welded up using 1in section of muffler tubing to get a “long tube header”. The 96 B-Body gas tank was installed and the frame was cut and never welded back up! and my personal favorite was the 305 air cleaner that was used to cover the hump in the trunk pan from the gas tank for fast access!


I’ll be posting more pics of this car and showing how not to do a conversion throughout the week.


The end goal with ether be a Gold Bobcat judge car due to it’s a real gold posty, or a orange judge on 17 or 18in rally II style wheels. The posty is in store for a healthy www.MastMotorsports.com (http://www.mastmotorsports.com/) VVT engine with a 6 speed and full 2006 GTO interior along with a host of other upgrades.

OMG.. Good save on a classic Body, looks to be in great shape.. But yank that motor out now and start fresh !

I assume the thread header, "VVT 6-speed" is a tip for what you have planned for this car - if so, is the reference to the L92 with a 6L80/90E?

About the previous owner's installation - hatchet job is probably too kind a description.

Outside of the horrible LSX conversion it’s a very low mile post car with a solid body and these post cars are hard to find in a good year. It’s the only 70 post car I have ever found for sale locally.

The 5.3L is long gone but the L92/T56 I had set up for this car just got broken up. The L92 is going to a different project I had www.mastmotorsports.com (http://www.mastmotorsports.com) get some 9.5 forged pistons due forced inducted goals that’s will be going into my 85 firebird that will be taking down Burt’s personal BRE Trans Am. Photos and story to come…

So far for the 70 I have the T-56 from a 01 WS6 with 30K

the full interior from a 14K mile 06 6 speed GTO and just picked up a 2006 and 2004 GTO shells for some random parts.

Here is the 19K 04 gto LS1/4L65 if anyone needs a pullout all im getting from the car is the shell and the seats ill set you up with the owner # PM me.



Mostly I’m collecting parts for this one the 1985 that’s in the works and is going to be first to hit the road. I did get a call about a screaming deal on another L92 but the way the cars turning out it will most likely be a 421 or 455 stroker but will retain the VVT.

Wow. very nice cars... So what makes the black one any different from the others?

Phil’s the expert on that one, I know it’s special because it came with leather from the factory and came tuned from D.E.I. Other then that I’m not sure I know he has all the documentation on the black car and photos when Ms Goodwrench when she first received the car and bought it from her dad.

That T-top Aerocoupe, will cost me $10,900 by the time all the border fee's, and shipping is taken care of. No way possible I can afford that right now, but I'll hold onto all the pics and info, in case someday I decide to reconsider.

Bought me a nice 1999 SS Camaro with a Built 382Ci/ Stage II T-56 combo last weekend so the 70s getting some parts!!

Snagged the T-56 Stage II W/ Centerforce clutch, lightweight flywheel and all hydraulics with 02 components.

Keeping the 4 Wheel disc brakes and booster off the SS and upgrading to13in rotors, now I got to find me a 12 bolt...

Rest will be sold off to recoupe the cost but my 01 Z28 got some bolt on parts as well
