Hey all,

Doing an LS swap into an 89 Mustang for my sons 16th Birthday present. Ive had the car and motors for a couple of years just sitting in my shop and never realized how simple the swap would be until about a week ago. Now I'm chasing parts and making brackets. I haven't been so gung ho about doing that in years. Call me old but Ive never messed with the LS motors aside from changing the oil and fuel filters on my Suburban. lol Always thought it would be a neat swap but never put a plan into action until I was about to sell my sons Mustang. It was out of the garage ready to be loaded on to the buyers trailer and it dawned on me to put one of the 3 LS motors I had in the shop in it. I reluctantly declined his offer and pushed it back in the garage a week ago. Went home that night and jumped on the web and started reading up on it and landed here. Were putting a 5.3 4L65E combo in it nothing outrageous. Victor jr efi intake, fuel rails retaining the Fuel Injection and headers and maybe a small cam. Just to get his feet wet and give him something to do while Im at the track!

Wow, that is an awesome birthday present. Are you gonna surprise him with a running ls powered mustang?

Yes, I actually bought the car in "08" as a roller from a friend because he said, "Dad I'd go to College if I had that car!" So I bought it with the hopes of someday building a motor together but since this economy is not cooperating with me Ive changed directions and Im so thankful I did.

Heres a pic of the Mustang its an 89 Convertible has a 8 point cage. A 4.11 locker and 33 spline Mark Williams 8.8 rear. Purchased for a steal... Since the pic we changed hoods. went to a 3" and converted it to 5 lug.
