Looking to drop an lsx w/ 4l60e into a 63 nova SS Convertible. Would like engine and trans together from same vehicle including the wiring harness and ecu to make the swap as easy as possible. If wishing could make it so I’d get a 6.2L LS2, but financial conditions will probably dictate the 5.3L LM4, 5.7L LS1/LS6 or 6L LQ4/LQ9. I suspect there are quite a few LQ4’s and 9’s from trucks available, but don’t know if they’d fit height and depth wise. I need to find out costs for engine/trans/ecu combos above and resolve any fitment issues. Any insight would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forums!
I think there might be some fitment issues with the truck intake and the hood. Not 100% sure, but might be able to take some measurements as soon as the mockup block is installed in my car.
There might also be issues with the accessories from the truck as well. Are you running a stock front clip? Stock steering or rack and pinion?
With stock steering you will need a GTO pan, with R&P you can run most anything (truck pans might have ground clearance issues). I have a stock camaro pan on my block now, but also have the GTO pan that will go on before installation.
I am planning on running a stock front end with stock steering (for now) and a CPP mini subframe kit.

I've got a CPP IFS 2" drop, power rack setup. Might be able to get a hold of a 5.3 in a couple of weeks for a test fit and see if it clears the hood. Don't think fore and aft should be a problem, but I don't have the radiator support in yet.
Yeah, fitment front to back shouldn't be a problem, the bigger issue might be hood clearance.
I literally just walked back in the door from dropping my '65 II off with Bart and the guys. They may have motor mounts and crossmember mock ups done by next week. Then it will be time for headers.
If they do, it is possible that sometime next week, we might be able to get actual measurements with the LS1 and a stock front clip.

I just got it set up to build headers on your nova. We are going to have some 1 7/8 headers built with a 3in ball collector.

are you producing headers for the 1st gen or were these one off?
