Hello fellas, I'm new to this site and I have joined this site because I want to swap my 307 V8 for a Ly6 6.0. I picked this engine because it's an iron block engine and I don't want to have an aluminum engine like everybody else. Although I was looking at the LS3/L92 engine because they make a little bit more power then the Ly6 but like I said I want to have an iron block. So I was wondering if an Ly6 block can be made into a 6.2 or so from a 6.0 and if so what would it cost?

It would need to be bored the LS3 is or L92 is 4.065 your LY6 is 4.00.
What kind of power do you want? A stroker crank can get that 6.0L 364CI to a 408CI in a hurry. That 6.0L is good for about 500 HP with a little work.
As for price it just depends on how you do it? how many miles are on the LY6?

Well I want to make 500+hp with the LY6 engine. I was thinking maybe I could get it bored out from 4.000" to 4.065" or .070". Put aftermarket pistons from SRP/JE in there with a Mast Motprsports Cam. I was also thinking of going with the Fast LSX-R Intake with 92mm or the 102mm throttle body to go with it along with some fuel rails. I'm stuck on if I should stick with the L92 heads or not because I've been reading mixed reviews about them. If I do end up having to change the heads I was thinking of maybe getting those Mast Motorsports Black Label Cylinder Heads. What do you think about that set up?

I know this is a bit old but here goes... You don't need to bore it to get 500HP
You have the setup and power plant to make it happen.......
This is just a suggestion
Get rid of the VVT
Get a LS2 timing cover
LS2 timing chain and gear
cam around 22X/23X @.50 or maybe 232/238....... .600/.600 max( you might be able to get away with more lift due to your piston type and low comp...)
Check PTVC anyway
Dual springs
L76 INTAKE DON'T WASTE $1000 ON A FAST 102 FOR 15-20 EXTRA HP
Headers
ECM Tune....
This should be around 400-430rwhp easy....... which = with 15% loss 505HP at the flywheel....
Or mill the heads to 64cc to get your compression up from 9.6 to about 10.1 or so......
If it were me stick with what you got bro, you have the clay to build that sculpture..... The L92's are great but they have to be cammed right and most guys still think that the biggest cam in the catalog is the best...... The best ported L92 heads I have seen on a 4.155 bore flow numbers still were not far from the stock numbers and worth the extra $500-$800..... I mean be realistic how much time will you be spending driving at 6500rpms+ so if they flow 350+ at .700+ lift really does not matter to me.....

I didn't think about all that BozzHawg. I was just going off the deep end in thought because I saw this article about this like 70 or 71 Cutlass I think and they took a believe a 427 LS7 engine and made it into a 455. And dubbed the engine the 455 LSx engine. So I was just wondering if that could be the case with the LY6 and change it from a 6.0 to a 6.2 or like the engine I had in my 86 Cutlass a 6.6 403 engine. I just don't know where I want to go with this dang engine. I guess for right now I'll go with the most money saving way! Lol
