Hey guys the first kit in the new line of RetroLSX conversion kits with be this application and I am in the development of this kit right now! I am working with this unit to retain the OEM T-case due to the front differential location and use the OEM front Accessories and truck oil pan. Check back for more info!

Here are some more mock up photos that also show that the truck was level and that the motor sits in this 4WD in level.

Here is a bolt in kit for the 4WD trucks that will let you use the OEM mounting points if you want to use The newer style transmissions with the old T-Cases. I will also sell just the mounts and the headers have already been built for the kit. I’ll have some off the car shots and more in the car late today. The kits will need to go out to be mass produced but its 100% bolt in.

How different would the '89 be from those years?

I'm new to this site, but glad I found it! I am currently in process of building a 73 K5 blazer, and taking most of the drivetrain out of my 87 K5 to put in the 73. The 87 currently has a TBI 350, 700R4, NP208 and Dana 60 front axle and 14bff rear axle...
The 73 came to me with a 454 in need of rebuild...so, I was considering doing that, as the TBI 350 in my 87 really sucks! haha It has zero power, can't wait to get rid of it. So, I have a daily driver 2010 Silverado with the 6.2L L92 motor, and I love it! So, I got to thinking "Why don't I try to find an LS motor and go that route?" I found this site in my searching...
So, I see that this thread was last posted in March 2010...what is the latest on these kits, and does anyone have advice on this swap? I'd prefer to re-use my 700R4 (it was built by Bowtie Overdrives, should still have a lot of life in it) - is that an easy adaptation to the LSx block? I'd prefer something like an LQ4, but an LS1 seems cheaper and more plentiful, and can be built obviously.
What I would like is big torque...this K5 is mostly used for slow speed offroading (rocks, mountain trails, etc), with the occasional sand dune play thrown in. It won't see a lot of street, but I'd like it to be able to keep up with traffic no problem! :) Understand, my heavy pig of a K5 tips the scales at well over 6,000lbs with the 42" tires and all of the gear!
I'd appreciate any advice on how to get started, and would love to see some build threads on similar trucks?
Thanks, and look forward to learning a lot on this site!
Keith
