View Full Version : Newb from Iowa
Hello. My name is Chris. Stumbled upon this place from another forum. Getting parts gathered for an LS1/L92 headed engine in my 1995 Caprice. Lots if interesting things here so far! That new conversion oil pan looks just like what I'm looking for too!

Welcome to the site! Just a quick question do you have a 5.7 LS1? If so the L92 will not fit due to the large valves. The L92/LS3 heads will only work on 4.0 bore engines or 6.0L motors. A set of worked 5.3L heads might be a better option for higher compression and better flow.
6.0 out of a low mileage Express van. :)

sounds like a great combo the LQ4/4L80 fit in without much work in those big cars. I can also get new assembled L92 heads for $650 if you need it.
Thanks
I've actually got the heads too. The parts have been sitting around the last year or so. Just never gotten around to the project. That's pretty cheap for new assembled L92's! After the first of the year, I'll be gathering more parts here and there. Does your LHX pan fit better than the Moroso swap pan? I've seen a few guys fit the Moroso pan in the Caprices without even cutting any of the front cross member.

I like the cast style pans over most aftermarket due to the thicker flanges and screw on oil filters. I have done a couple B-Body caprices with the Cady CTS-V oil pan as well and all three will go in without cutting the frame or needed to notch for the A/C.
I have a 92 Roadmaster lined up to make a kit on here at the shop and as of now it’s going to be based off the LHX and CTS-V.
Let me know if you need a cam or springs for that combo as well
Very cool! Looks like I stumbled upon the right place in my search for an oil pan. I can't wait to see the Roadmaster wagon! The help with the camshaft selection would be greatly appreciated too. I've built plenty of small block Chevy's over the years. This is a whole new animal to me.
